Bishop’s Mission is a non-profit organization dedicated to the total wellness of first responders and working dogs. We specialize in peer support, education, and wellness services for K9 teams, first responders, and animal professionals.
WHY WE EXIST
Bishop’s Mission was founded by first responders, for first responders—because we’ve been there. We understand the weight of the job, the calls that linger, and the need for connection during and after critical incidents. That’s why we’re here: to support those who serve, especially when the sirens fade and the silence sets in.
Our team is CISM-certified (Critical Incident Stress Management) and available to assist with critical incident debriefings, peer support sessions, and response team wellness. We provide trained, relatable support during times of crisis, burnout, or cumulative stress—making sure no responder has to carry it alone.
In addition to supporting humans, we also recognize that working K9s are essential team members who often go underserved. Many departments focus heavily on training the dogs, but few have access to reliable information on how to truly care for them—physically, emotionally, and nutritionally. Our K9 Wellness Program bridges that gap.
This initiative brings together pet professionals—trainers, groomers, nutritionists, and behavior experts—to help handlers and departments learn how to support the long-term health and performance of their K9 partners. It’s about caring for the dog, and the person who works beside them.
We also know that emergencies can strike without warning. When a working K9 faces a sudden illness or injury, the cost of urgent veterinary care can be overwhelming. That’s why we established the Emergency Veterinary Fund for task trained service dogs of first responders & veterans —to ensure no service dog’s life is jeopardized because of financial barriers.
At Bishop’s Mission, we support the entire team—humans and K9s alike—with peer-driven programs, expert resources, and boots-on-the-ground understanding. We’re here for the hard calls, the quiet moments afterward, and everything in between.
We are not a therapy group—we are a peer support organization that serves those who serve, with wellness programs designed for both the K9 handler and the K9. Bishop’s Mission exists to ensure working dogs are treated like the vital partners they are.
Whether it’s a patrol K9, search & rescue dog, or a support animal in the field, we’re here to help departments, handlers, and their communities protect their investment—and their bond—for the long haul.

Ongoing wellness support for responders and their K9 partners, including proactive check-ins, peer mentorship, and emotional wellness toolsCall-Out Services
